PROJECT917
For Motorsport Lovers
BRINGING A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE TO LIFE
Project917 is an initiative that offers enthusiasts the chance to drive a trackday version of unquestionably one of the finest and most iconic race cars ever, the Porsche 917.
Not only is the 917 entrenched in sports car history due to its numerous famous race victories, but immortalised as the star of the Steve McQueen movie Le Mans …
Who hasn’t wanted to be Michael Delaney sat on the start line with heart thumping and then going on to chase down Erich Stahler’s Ferrari 512!
Getting to drive an original 917 is reserved for a very privileged handful of owners so our vision is to build a high specification 917 recreation for use on trackdays in the UK, Europe and around the world and available to our fans to enjoy.
The Project 917 car will not be an original, however it will be built to achieve a driving experience as authentic to the genuine article as is possible. We will be using a tuned Porsche drivetrain to keep the heritage correct and deliver truly exhilarating performance with an intoxicating soundtrack to match.
Our plan is to build our 917 to present at special trackday events starting in 2017 and allow fans to attend events at one of the countries favourite circuits, such as Brands Hatch, Silverstone and Goodwood. Fans will be able to secure a place as a part of our crowdfund campaign in October 2016 on Indiegogo.
Project 917 will also offer the opportunity for a limited number of enthusiasts to attend very special trackday driving and social events as part of 917 Drive Club membership. This membership will include unique features and rewards.
Our build partners are RallyPrep who notably run the Toyota Works GT86 CS-R3 programme in the UK and Ireland and will bring their expertise and passion to build the 917 as well as preparing it for, and running it on, the trackday events.
With a target kerb weight of 917kgs we will offer an explosive power to weight ratio coupled to a RallyPrep optimised chassis tailored to maximise driving enjoyment, provide a speed thrill and a unique experience in an atmosphere of a by gone era with a modern twist.
Future Plans
A special part to our vision is to ultimately re-imagine the 917 and create a modern contemporary road going version and designs are underway and we plan to announce a design partnership in the next few weeks.
All of our plans will include the opportunity to inspire young engineers to get involved both as part of the build and design, but also as part of a web based e-learning portal to inspire and encourage automotive engineering to a wider audience.
We are seeking foundation investors to run parallel with a reward based crowdfunding campaign on indiegogo.com launching at the beginning of October 2016 where fans and supporters can secure their slot on the driving experience days but also purchase from a range of exclusive and carefully selected 917 related collectables.
